Why Vue and Nuxt

Vue is the right choice when your platform needs an interactive interface: dashboards, portals and tools where the data changes and people need to see it straight away, without waiting for pages to reload.

Not every site needs that. If your site is mostly content, a server-rendered site built with WordPress or Astro will be faster to build and faster to load. I’ll recommend Vue where the interaction is worth it, and keep things simple where it isn’t.

How I build it

I’ve been building with Vue since 2015, and choose the tools to suit each project:

  • Vue with Inertia on top of Laravel. For most applications this is the sweet spot: a modern interface backed by a Laravel application, without the overhead of a separate API.
  • Nuxt for standalone apps and sites. Routing, server rendering and static generation built in, for apps and sites that don’t sit on Laravel.
  • The Composition API, TypeScript and Pinia. Code that stays organised and easy to change as the interface grows.
  • Tested with Vitest. Automated tests on the parts that matter, so changes ship with confidence.

Hosting and support

Static Nuxt sites go on Netlify: fast, inexpensive and simple to deploy. Vue front ends that sit on Laravel are hosted with the application, on services like Laravel Forge or Laravel Cloud. Once it’s live, I offer support and maintenance retainers to keep everything up to date and keep adding features as your needs change.

I work with agencies as well as directly with clients. If you need an experienced Vue developer to build from your designs, add interactive features to a site or look after an existing app, I’m happy to work under your name.
